Ralph White- Titanic Explorer

Titanic Explorer Ralph WhiteRalph White is an award winning cinematographer and video cameraman with over twenty five years experience in motion pictures and television with over 400 production credits.

White was the motion picture cameraman and one of the underwater imaging supervisors for the French/American Team which discovered the wreck of the R.M.S. Titanic in 1985. In 1987 he was co-director of submersible operations and underwater photographer for the French Expedition which retrieved over 1800 artifacts from the Titanic's debris field, and in 1991 he was one of the three submersible cameramen and underwater navigator for the Russian-Canadian-American Expedition which filmed the wreck of the Titanic in the world's largest motion picture format, IMAX. He is currently featured as one of the principal expedition members in the IMAX feature length documentary "TITANICA". As one of the experts in deep ocean operations and imaging, he currently holds the world's record for the number of submersible dives to the two and a half mile deep Titanic, and has more submersible dives as a foreigner aboard the French "Nautile" and Soviet "MIR" Submersibles.

He has utilized large screen format to document deep ocean dives, including the two mile deep "Black Smoker" vents of the East Pacific Rise, the 400 degree hot vents in the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, and the World Record submersible rendezvous at 16,500 feet. He has photographed sharks and whales around the world, including the world's largest known flesh eating shark! Additional assignments include: The Arctic diving operations on the 153 year old wreck of the R.M.S. Breadalbane, "Search for the Loch Ness Monster", and the National Geographic Societies "The Great Whales" which was awarded an "EMMY' for Best Documentary Film of 1977.

 

Ralph preparing for another dive to TitanicWhite's first professional filming assignment was as the sky diving cameraman for the Ivan Tots series "Ripcord". He served as a Marine Corps Force Reconnaissance team leader, and was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps Competition Parachute Team and The 1964 & '65 United States Parachute Team. He retired after 18 years as a Captain from the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Reserve Forces as one of their most honored officers.

He is a Knight of The Order of Constantine, and The Military and Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus. A Fellow and Past Vice Chapter Chairman of the Explorers Club, and a Past President of the Adventurers' Club. The Underwater Society of America awarded him the prestigious "NOGI" for his life time achievement in underwater photography. He is a highly sought after speaker on the Titanic and his many other exciting adventures.
